With a design originating during the war of 1812, the significance of this special flag was first memorialized on September 14th, 1814. At that time, a flag with 15 stars and 15 stripes was flying in Baltimore Harbor. It continued to proudly stand after a strong and concerted attack by the British.   When the smoke cleared, seeing the flag still flying, Francis Scott Key was moved to compose a poem.   Now known as the Star-Spangled Banner, this inspiring poem was adapted to music and has since become the national anthem. The American Flag keepsake urn will remain a lasting treasure for anyone who had a patriotic heart, filled with love of country.
